'Aguncheiro' Restaurant

In the 1950s the Porto area opened its first bar, known by the locals as ‘a de Lino’. The charismatic Lino became the owner of the most important meeting place in the area, capitalising on having the only bus stop in the area and the first telephone!

Now it is his three children who run the ‘bar’ which has evolved into a bar/restaurant, backpackers’ hostel, and small hotel/holiday apartment complex. All fully-equipped and up to date, but with a real family atmosphere.

The restaurant serves home-cooked food with an emphasis on fresh produce. As the restaurant stands metres from the sea, the sea food couldn´t be any fresher and the accompanying vegetables come from their own garden.

The deliciously moist shellfish rice dish is a speciality (either pre-order or a 20min wait). The tortilla (Spanish omelette) is also very good here, perfect for a quick snack when you can´t wait any longer!

The setting is also wonderful; eat out on their vine-shaded roof terrace looking over the sea to the distant horizon, with one of the most pleasant sunsets in the entire region.
